| This very limited edition advent calendar was silkscreened in the John Talleur Print Studio, located in the basement of the Lawrence Arts Center. I collected victorian house pictures from the ‘net and combined several properties for this illustration. Architecturally speaking, I’m sure it is an abomination of visual styles, but it fills its primary purpose: 25 windows and doors! The bug inspirations came from early entymological illustrations that I sketched and then rendered with paint-brush style markers. Once I had scanned these b/w images and layed them out to fit behind the little doors, I laser printed the sheets and hand colored each page of insects individually (no two bugs are the same). Finally, each calendar required 75 separate X-Acto blade cuts and c-a-r-e-fully placed beads of glue. I hope you enjoy the discovery of new and impossible buggies from December 1st to the 25th. |
